Greek Philosophy and Christianity

The Question:  Are you a Platonist, and how much of Greek Philosophy should be used in Christianity?

God is a creator.  He created everything.

Picture the Island of Atlantis.  The Island of Atlantis is separated from the rest of Civilization.  The Island may have been like The Garden of Eden.   All knowledge was under God.  Everything was set or positioned in the design of our creator.  All symbols and dates were being used for the purpose God set for them.  God lived freely with the people.  Sin entered the island.  The island sank.

In building The Kingdom of God, we are arranging everything in creation into the place God designed for it.  Since the fall of Adam, God's plan has been to bring all of mankind back under God.

Given someone was to ask an Orthodox Priest about Greek Philosophy he may have said "We took what we could use."  That is more or less what God has guided me to do.  The main difference being I was not taught in Orthodox Christianity.  I have been coming from a place of "I don't know," and "I don't care" with God.  A place of obedience where I had fresh eyes on Greek Philosophy.  I have rolled with what works.

  • For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (Ephesians 5:8)
  • You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. (1 Thessalonians 5:5)
  •  Satan was known as the Prince of Darkness, the Lord of Lies.  Satan worked to put man into a Cave of Darkness, a matrix of false perspectives.  Jesus Christ is the Light, the Way, and Truth of the world.  He guides people out of the cave into his Glorious Kingdom.

Here we have The Allegory of the Cave.  It works.  I have rolled with what God has shown me, what works.

Part of Spiritual Warfare has been a War of Words, a War of Thoughts.  (2 Corinthians 10:5)  Many people in Pagan Rome thought a certain way.  Outside of Paul's letters, what other methods may he have been using in spiritual warfare?  Understanding that may take God and spiritual discernment.  A few letters is only part of the picture.  A few letters may be a guide.  Christians should be of "One Mind."  (Philippians 2:2)  A man works to align himself with the prophets of the Bible, and speak no false things.

Am I a Platonist?  No.  I roll with what works towards building the Kingdom of God.
