The Spiritual is layered like an onion. Pealing back the layers, someone may cry? The Spiritual is layered like layers in the Atmosphere. Somewhere in the Atmosphere, or the Principalities, there may be Daniel's Beasts from Daniel 7. Every so often, these beasts have manifested in the character of certain Kingdoms or Empires.
The Traditional Christian View on Daniel 7:
- A beast like a lion with eagle's wings. The Babylonian Empire.
- A beast like a bear, raised up on one side, with three Curves between its teeth. The Medo-Persian Empire.
- A beast like a leopard with four wings of fowl and four heads. The Greek Empire.
- A fourth beast, with large iron teeth and ten horns. The Roman Empire.
I am in agreement.
Could these beasts have manifested in other Kingdom's throughout history? The character of the leopard with four wings has been associated with The Greek Empire. The Greek Empire expanded quickly, and then broke up into successor states. Four successor states. Has any other empire in history displayed this same or similar character? Yes. The Mongol Empire. The Mongol Empire expanded quickly, and then broke up into four successor states. Moreover, given someone studies something like the Siege of Baghdad, some very particular verbiage was being used. The Mongols believed they were enacting God's Judgement on the wicked.
The Mongols may have been similar to, but different than, Cyrus the Great. (Isaiah 45) They were conquerors were three stressors of War, Famine, and Plague.
Are there other potential implication of Daniel 7, and the beasts? I don't know at this time. I haven't thought much about it. Christians should be in agreement, and of one mind. (Philippians 2:2) The Mongols appear to be an easy in towards teaching something about The Spiritual and Prophecy.
