What is a Saint?

Given someone was reading on this blog, seeking God with all their heart and soul and strength and mind, they may have been transformed.   They were of the world prior to.  They ended up with a circumcision of the heart, and experiencing God.  In this context, what exactly is a Saint?

I have a short testimony.  It was Summer 2013.  I was a regular man getting by in life, working to be closer to God.  My dad invited me to a men's Bible study.  We gathered at a coffee shop.  The pastor of the church was part of this Bible Study.  I was asked to open us up in prayer.  In the middle of the crowded coffee shop, in the moment, not thinking about it, I prayed.  I don't remember what I said, but it ended up sounding really virile and awesome.  The pastor of the church started grunting at me.  He didn't actually say anything to me.  The pastor, he just grunted at me, and looked at me funny like he was jealous with hurt eyes.  There was a particular spirit there.  As we are discussing Saints, someone should be mindful of a Spirit of Jealousy, particularly anyone in a position of authority in a Church.  Given someone found God in a big way, we should be leading others, especially Church leadership, to be where we are.

What exactly is a Saint?  A Saint is "One with God."  It may be like God's Holy Spirit is entwined with someone's soul.  Someone of The Spirit of God, they tend to think about God a lot.  They tend towards God-centric activities. There may be signs in a change of character and attitude.

In Protestantism, there may be evidence of groups of men being transformed from time to time; however, that may not have lasted more than a generation or two or three.   Something shifted or changed.  A lot of people were going through the motions in a Church.  They sort of knew what they should be doing and saying, but they lost something.

Given someone found God in a big way, there may have been different roles someone was fulfilling, different callings.

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,  (Ephesians 4:11)

Each of these different roles, they have particular functions.  Given someone was an Evangelist or a Pastor, he may not have been of the same frame of mind exactly as a prophet.  A prophet may have been like a sheep dog protecting the flock from wolves.  A prophet may have been a standard keeper, making sure that everyone was hitting the mark.  Given the wrong men ended up in position of authority, they may have butted heads with a prophet.  That is how prophecy ended up outside of many Churches.

Given someone was Catholic and Orthodox reading here, could they end up finding God in a big way too?  Absolutely.  They need to be mindful of Church dogma.  Given they did find God in a big way, they help lead others towards finding God as well.  Vatican II has issues; however, Vatican II does open up some doors for the Greater Church to come back together at some point.

Some people, they like attention.  They want attention and authority.  There may be people walking around claiming to be a Saint or something in  the wrong way.  We should be mindful of that as well.

A Saint is someone who was touched by God, and went through sanctification to become closer to God.  It may feel like God's Holy Spirit entwined with someone's soul.  There may be signs in a change of character.  Given this happens with someone, he should be mindful of authority and spirit of jealousy.  Going through sanctification, there may be a penitent man phase.  It may be a sign of something.

Addendum -

The Question:  Can there be Apostles?

There could not be Apostles in a Church without an active and thriving Prophetic Ministry.  What is the role of a prophet?  One of his roles was as standard keeper.  He was ensuring that the brethren were meeting the mark, and being mindful of false teachings and wolves.  Creating Apostles may have been a role of Church Elders.  Being an Apostle would also be a particular calling.  Church Elders need to be in agreement.

In Catholicism and Orthodoxy, The Church, as an entity or institution, it was claiming the authority of The Apostles.  The Church itself was supposed to be Apostolic.   What does an Apostle do?  He builds Churches.

Question:   Has most Protestant teachings on Saints been off?

There are a lot of denominations.  We would have to look at it on a case by case basis.

"Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father" (Colossians 1:2)

What is the difference between  Saints and "faithful brethern in Christ?"  A Saint may have been "There."  He found God in a big way.  A faithful breathern in Christ was seeking.

Question:  Could men of different denominations in Christianity have the Spirit of God?

Christians are to be Law Abiding.  (Romans 13)  A Christian in a particular denomination may have been accepting of that denominations theology and doctrines.  We will call this "Overhead."  Different coaches or teachers, they may have had a particular teaching or coaching philosophy.  That teaching philosophy would be "Overhead."  It may have guided how they thought, and decisions made.  In a similar but greater way, particular theology provided Overhead.

In the calling God gave me, I was shepherded outside of hierarchies of authority.  A hierarchy of authority may have been Husband - Wife - Children.  A hierarchy of authority may have been School District - Principle - Teacher.  District Manager - Manager - Employee.  There have been many hierarchies of authority.  In Christianity, there should be good and well established hierarchies were men are serving God well.  Were they serving God well, or has their been a falling away?  God Almighty is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  I was shepherded outside of hierarchies of authority till it was God - me.

May certain Christians of different denomination have had the spirit of God?  Yes.  Differences in view points may have been due to Overhead, that is, Christians are to be law abiding.  Men of different denominations may have been accepting the theology and doctrines of their denomination.

God controls his Holy Spirit like a knob on a radio.  Given there was a falling away, he may have turned his Holy Spirit down.  In a falling away, there may have been other spirits in a Church.  Jezebel the Magazine was flaunting a Jezebel Spirit.  Were there Christians aligned, more of one mind with people from Jezebel the Magazine or God Fearing Christians?  There may have been other spirits floating through a Church in a falling away.  God can turn up his spirit at any time.  Someone who had "Spirits Not God" in their body, they may be hating life, and speaking blasphemes given God suddenly turned up his Holy Spirit.

Faith is a journey, a journey of being in a personal relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ.  Given there was bad theology or doctrines, bad theology may have been like a stumbling block, a barrier keeping someone from growing "More in Faith."  The journey stopped.  The end goal of said journey may being one with God, and a completeness of the Kingdom of God.

  1. Question: What if there is a lot of resistance to good teaching in Church leadership?

I believe most Christians would like to be right with God. Given someone studied their Bible a lot, it may take a few words to correct their thinking. Suddenly they are connecting dots in their head, and everything is lighting up like a pinball machine.

Given there is a lot of resistance in certain people, it may be a sign that someone wasn't actually a Christian. They were a servant of Satan in some Occultism.
